Look for the information you can act on
A fertilizer recommendation concerns particular nutrients and amounts. A soil amendment may be selected for other characteristics as well. If you need to correct a measured nutrient deficiency, look for a relevant analysis and directions rather than assuming that any compost-based product will provide a complete correction.
Compare without double counting
- Write down the soil-test or crop recommendation you are trying to meet.
- List what the existing soil or growing mix already contains, as far as known.
- Read the analysis and application instructions for each product under consideration.
- Keep a record of additions so that fertilizer, compost and other amendments are considered together.
How to evaluate Soily
Soily discloses its vermicompost and biochar process. We do not provide an unverified NPK percentage or describe the blend as a complete feeding program for every plant. If your priority is a specific nutrient correction, use the relevant soil information and product analysis to choose the appropriate input. If you are evaluating an amendment, define and record that trial separately.
