Describe the problem precisely
Write down whether water pools, runs off, or leaves some areas wet longer than others. Note where you walk and where machinery has passed. Soil texture and compaction are related questions, but they are not identical. A soil test and local advice can help you separate physical conditions from nutrient needs.
Make the growing area easier to manage
- Keep regular walking routes outside the growing area where possible.
- Avoid working soil when it is too wet; damaged structure can make the project harder.
- Plan organic-matter additions from the product guidance and site conditions, not from a promise that a small amount will change the soil's texture.
- Evaluate a focused area before repeating the same treatment across the whole garden.
Put Soily in the right category
Soily is a small-bag vermicompost and biochar amendment. It is not a drainage installation, replacement topsoil or a guaranteed fix for compaction. Compare the size of your task with the amount you intend to use, and source larger-scale materials or advice when the problem calls for them.
